Indonesia

Indonesia is a country located in Southeast Asia. It consists of thousands islands from the west to the east and from the north to the south. Across its many islands, Indonesia consists of distinct ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups.

The capital city of Indonesia is Jakarta. Jakarta is the country’s economic, cultural and political centre. It is the most populous city in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia, and is the thirteenth-largest city in the world. The urban area, Jabodetabek, is the second largest in the world. Jakarta is listed as a global city in the 2008 Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network (GaWC) research.

It’s a tropical country with only two seasons, which are wet and dry season. So, can you imagine how nice is the weather? This awesome kind of climate is supported with so many beautiful beaches here. With white sandy beaches and nice wave you surely can have fun. The most famous place, which has a lot of beautiful beaches is Bali Island. From Kuta Beach in the downtown of Denpasar (Bali’s capital city) to Lovina Beach where you can see lots of dolphins jumping around the coast.

If you want to relax at a beach and don’t like crowd, there’s just a perfect beach which fits you. It is Dreamland Beach. This beach is still ‘virgin’, only few people know about this place. Although nowadays, there are few hotels and cafes there. And if you like surfing, it’s just the perfect place for you. With good wind and medium wave, so perfect!

From Bali let’s continue our journey to the easternmost area in Indonesia. It is Papua. Papua has a lot of beautiful places, but only few of them that open for public. Meaning, they are still hidden. So, I usually call Papua as a hidden paradise. There’s one place in Papua which is getting well-known nowadays because of its beauty. It is Raja Ampat Islands. It’s one of the best diving spot in the world. If you think that paradise is up above the sky, you have to think it once again. Because I think paradise is down below the sea, it is in Raja Ampat.

Things that I really love in Indonesia are the food and the beverage. The typical food in Indonesia is hot and spicy food. Two Indonesian food was listed in the ‘World’s 50 Most Delicious Food’ held by CNN International in 2011. They are Rendang, which was chosen as the number one of the dish, and Nasi Goreng as the number two.

Rendang

Rendang is a spicy meat dish which originated from Minangkabau ethnic group of Indonesia, and now is commonly served across the country. And Nasi Goreng, literally meaning “fried rice” in Indonesia, can refer simply to fried pre-cooked rice, a meal including stir fried rice in small amount of cooking oil or margarine, typically spiced with kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), shallot, garlic, tamarind, and chili and accompanied with other ingredients, particularly egg, chicken, and prawns. Once you eat this kind of food, believe me, surely you want to eat it again and again and again. I do love Indonesian food!

So, I guess this is the end of the short summary about my country, Indonesia. If you are interested to know more about Indonesia, probably I will write another article about it. And please do visit Indonesia. I will be so happy to be your host or guide while you’re here. Terima kasih (thank you in Bahasa Indonesian).
